Shamir Optical Industry’s first technological breakthrough, EyePoint Technology is a radical departure from conventional eyeglass lens analysis tools. Ensuring an accurate design and analysis, it enables the development and manufacturing of sophisticated, tailor-made progressive lenses.

The key element behind Shamir’s EyePoint Technology is a dedicated ray-tracing program written by Shamir scientists. Combining lens surface topography data with a highly advanced mathematical algorithm, this sophisticated technology calculates the optical performance of thousands of locations covering the lens surface, taking into account the following parameters:

  • lens index refraction
  • lens prescription
  • lens center thickness
  • distance from the eye to the back vertex of the lens
  • distance from the lens to the object
  • object’s angular position in the eye’s field of vision
  • pantoscopic tilt of the frame
  • pupil distance
  • thickness reduction prism, and more.
